Suggest Treatment For Recurring Palpitations Due To Potassium Deffeciency
Hello I am a 24 year old female. Last night I went to the emergency room because I was having heart palpations.. Turns out my potassium was low. They gave me potassium orally and then I was discharged. Today I continued having palpations and now I just experienced some shortness of breath. Is there anything I could do about this?
HI welcome to HCM. Low potassium levels can contribute to serious rhythm disturbances of heart.A complete electrolyte blood panel is usually needed for accurate institution of therapy.A baseline EKG will provide the any co existent specific changes.A screening echo is needed in case associated shortness of breath.oral potassium supplements can rapidly correct the symptoms when taken in right doses.Consult your doctor for further queries. Thank you
