Hi. Thanks for your query. Read and understood your history of sore-throat for a few months - a long time to suffer from. It also hurts to move the neck in any direction. You also have painful swallowing. The most probable reason for the symptoms you have can be Chronic pharyngitis, due to many factors like sinusitis, chest infection by Tuberculosis and such problems which are chronic and not easily amenable to the half hearted medical management . The infection to the lymph nodes in the neck can give sore muscles of the neck making movements painful. The painful swallowing can be due to chronic granular pharyngitis. I would advise you the following in such a case : Detailed investigations of blood, urine. Rule out diabetes and such chronic problems. -X-ray of the chest -CT scan of the sinuses. - Endoscopy of the pharynx and upper GU Endoscopy.
