Hi..
I have gone through your query and can understand your health concerns..
As per you explanation of symptoms red bumps on tongue can be Apthous ulcers or Canker sores and it may or may or may not be due to any underlying cause..
Larger bumps at the back of the tongue can be inflamed Circumvallate Papillae which contains
taste buds or at times the normal Papillae are of large size and can appear as elevations or bumps at the back of tongue and are arranged in a typical "V" shaped pattern..
One other cause of red bumps on tongue can be Viral infection caused by
Herpes Simplex Virus 1 causing cold sores..
I would suggest you to
consult a dentist and get evaluated and in case of Apthous ulcers:
1. Warm saline gargles can help.
2. Gargle with 1:1 solution of benadryl and
milk of magnesia can relieve..
3. If there is pain Apply lignocaine gel over the bumps and you can take
Ibuprofen for relief..
4. Drink plenty of cold water for hydration and reduction of inflammation..
5. Avoid hot, spicy and sour foods.
In case of Viral infection the infection will run its course from a few days to about 2 weeks and will resolve itself while anti
viral therapy containing
Acyclovir can be taken to prevent further outbreaks..
