Suggest Treatment For Red Mark Like Bruise On Nose

My 20 month old son developed a red mark that looks like a bruise or scratch on the bridge of his nose. We noticed it when he woke up this morning and it s getting more prominent through the day. I don t think he had any trauma or scratches that could have caused it. He does not seem to be itchy. Any idea what it could be?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi.
As per your case history your son is probably having an insect bite rash.
My treatment advice is -
1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine for itching.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
