Suggest Treatment For Red Patches On Thighs After Injury
my daughter was playing with her flashlight and a fluid came out from batteries, got on her thighs and she started to scream. i washed her down for 20 minutes, with water and gave her an oatmeal bath. she has red patches on her thing and still is crying. should i take her in to the er or put her back in bath?
This is dermatitis or burns from chemical irritation. No need to worry. Just keep the area clean and dry. Apply antibiotic creams like Mupirocin for 5 days to prevent secondary infection. You can give acetaminophen for pain relief if needed. Take her to doctor if the overlying skin becomes blistered or sloughing, becomes edematous or if she develops fever. Dispose the batteries safely and avoid any contact with eyes/mouth
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
