Suggest Treatment For Redness On The Leg After Using Wax Strips

Hi,l bought a pack of wax strips yesterday. I tried two of them on my leg.My skin got red and there were a few drops of blood on it.After that I took a look at the strips and found out there were some red points like blood point on them even on those which aren t still used.Is it possible that these wax strips transmit some viruses like hiv virus? I want to know how many minutes the hiv virus can survive between two layers of a wax strip if there is? Many thanks

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

As per your case history, you are suffering wax dermatitis.

My treatment advice is:
1. Do not squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
