Suggest Treatment For Restless Leg Syndrome After Taking Pramipex

I have had PRAMIPEXOLE DIHYDROCHLORIDE 0.25mg prescribed for restless leg syndrome. Since, for many years I have used a CPAP machine for sleep apnea I am concerned about the sudden onset of sleep described as a side effect of this medication. How often does this occur? is my concern truly justified? Bruce Harris DDS

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Sudden sleep attacks are a known side effect of Pramipexole. 2 studies found it to be a reported event in 6% of patients but these studies were not conclusive as there was not enough data.
I would advice precaution while driving, using machinery or performing any dangerous task.
Report to your doctor immediately if you experience any similar symptoms.
Thank you.
