Quest for ophthalmologist, I have had a few incidences of a temporary loss of vision in one eye, a graying out of the lower half of visual field, can only see from upper half for about 30 seconds to a minute sometimes. I have been nearsighted all my life wearing contact lens. Is this possibly a detached retina or tear?
for retinal detachment consult retina surgeon. buckling with vetriactomy and replacement by oil or vitreous substitute can be option. laser application for apposition of detachment part of retina can be considered.laser photocoagulation cryosurgery injection of gas oil are also option. retina surgeon has to decide the procedure to be adopted after proper examination.
