acitrom is a blood thinning agent that helps to prevent clot forming on the artificial valve. all blood filled compartments will have a natural layer called endothelium that prevents blood clot on it, bot artificial valves will not have that and the layer will not grow on that bcoz valve will be continuously moving. pt/inr is an indication of how much blood got thinned and it cannot be more bcoz it will cause bleeding and cannot be less bcoz it will cause clot on the valve. it has to be optimum, from 2.5 - 3
