I had vertigo many years ago. 2 months ago my ear started ringing. Repeated trips to the clinic (3 doctors). First two diagnosed tinnitus. 3rd referred to ENT Doctor who diagnosed SSNHL. She talked about a steroid injection and hyperbaric treatments but everything I ve read said those won t work given its been two months now. Should I look for another opinion. Should I get checked for Menieres Disease? If so, his is this tested for?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of vertigo many years ago, meaning it was settled. Now you have ringing in the ear for 2 months. and have taken consultation of 3 ENT. The last diagnosis being SSNHL. Local steroid and hyperbaric treatment may help as it is not yet 3 or 9 months. May try for this too. But it is better to go for another opinion. Go for MRI of the brain, the nerves and the mastoids and Audiometry. This will a proper diagnosis and the best way is to find a Doctor who is trained in Neuro-otology. You will get a diagnosis and proper treatment. At the same time a Physician's check up and getting all the vitals and blood tests to rule out diabetes, thyroid and lipid dysfunction is required.
