My 10 week old infant constantly rubs her eyes. If we hold her to our chest so that she can't rub them with her hands she will rub her face back and forth on our shirt to itch her face. Her bottom eye lashes are growing but the way her bottom eyelid folds the eyelashes are rubbing against her eye. Is there anything we can do?
Looks like baby has epiblepharon , where in fold of eyelid skin turns eyelashes inwards and irritating cornea. Do consult ophthalmologist, as constant irritation over cornea can cause permanent damage. Management is simple and usually with age it resolves itself. Untill then hyaluronic acid gel in small quantity can be injected to evert fold and correction of lashes direction.
