Suggest Treatment For Ruptured Eardrum And Ear Infection
When our daughter dived into the pool she had immediate pain in her ear. She had an ear infection about 6 weeks ago and was prescribed antibiotics. She was diagnosed with a ruptured eardrum by a technician at CVS and prescribed antibiotics. Her ear has been draining including bloody drainage. Today we took her to an ENT just to double check and he said he didn t see a tear and did a pressure test and he said it didn t seem she had a tear but has an infection and told her to continue antibiotics and then prescribed Ciprodex. Is it safe to give her Ciprodex if she potentially has a ruptured ear drum?
Thanks for your question. As per ENT examination , she is probably having an external ear infection. Ciprodex ear drops can be used and are safe in the presence of a perforated / ruptured ear drum. You may also consider a second ENT physicians opinion regarding the ear findings.
