Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi..during indian air force fighter pilot medical tests...i have been diagnosed for incomplete sacralisation of l5. Can i know whether this disease is curable or not and how much time it will take if it is curable?. and my age is 18 years..please answer
Incomplete sacralization is not a curable condition. It is when the sacral bone which is a fusion of 5 vertebrae into one bone (sacrum) occurs not only to those 5 sacral vertebrae but also to the 5th Lumbar Vertebrae as well. It has likely been that way for you since birth. I do not know of any treatment for it per say.
If it is causing you discomfort an orthopedic (spinal) surgeon could possibly correct the issue, but I do not know what the recovery time is for that. Patients that I have had with this never opted for a surgical correction but rather lived with the sacralization itself.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. David Girardi, Internal Medicine Specialist
