Suggest Treatment For Scar Formation After Second Degree Perineal Tear
Hi, i gave birth 6 months ago and with a bad second degree tear i now am left with some terrible scar tissue. i have an appointment with a gynocologist next month what procedure will he do to remove it? and will it be gone for good or will it grow back? also will the procedure take time to heal?
Hello, I have gone through your query and understood the concern. The scar needs to be assessed before planning the treatment. Physiotherapy including pelvic floor muscle stretching, scar mobilization, soft tissue massage, pelvic floor muscle strengthening etc. can be tried. Apart from this, trans-cutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, ultrasound and low-level laser therapy are used to treat scar and perineal pain. Whether the scar needs excision or not is decided by your gynecologist after a proper clinical evaluation. Healing time depends on the form of treatment applied. Hope you find this information useful.
