Hi,
Thanks for using HealthcareMagic.

Schizophrenia is one of the psychiatric disorders very difficult to treat.
Generally two types of anti psychotic medicines are used.

First generation (typical ) anti psychotic which are more useful in positive symptoms like haloperidol, trifluoperzine, blonanserine. They cause extra pyramidal side effects more which can be prevented by taking benzhexol(pacitane) simultaneously.

Second generation(atypical) anti psychotic like risperidone, olanzapine, amisulpride, aripiprazole, zyprasidone, quetiapine which are used depending upon individual patient and doctor's choice.

It is difficult to say that which medicine will useful in whom.Normally one medicine should be given at least for 8 weeks to see optimum effects otherwise it should be changed.

Please continue treatment with one psychiatrist so rational use of medicine can done.
Anti depressant, multivitamin and cognition enhancer medicines can be used in schizophrenia depending upon symptoms and patient profile.
Hope I have answered your query.

Hello and thanks for your query.

I understand that you have been going through a difficult time due to your mental illness. You have mentioned that you have been tried on multiple medications but your problems are still persisting and you're also experiencing side effects. So, you appear to be having what is called a Treatment-Resistant Schizophrenia.

In your situation where you are having treatment resistant schizophrenia and you also feel that you want to be on just one medication, the best option would be Clozapine. This is an anti-psychotic medication reserved for cases where most other medication don't work. So, you can discuss with your doctor about the option of starting Clozapine. However, since you are already on 4 medication, the transition to Clozapine has to be done gradually and the dose adjustment should be done cautiously.
