Hi, I had a case of secondary amenorrhoea in March and was given treatment (pillplan for one month) to normalize my period again,in April my came back and in May too. I have missed one in June and in July it showed up for one day only. What could be the problem?
Hello, Thanks for trusting us with your health concern. In the current scenario, you need a complete work up that includes a complete blood count, urinalysis, hormone assay, sonogram of the pelvis preferably in the trans-vaginal route and an endometrial biopsy. Infections, general and local, should be ruled out through proper clinical evaluation. Pap smear and swabs from the vagina and cervix are to be done. There are several causes for such menstrual irregularity. Sudden weight disturbances, stress, infections, cysts of the ovary and certain medications are some of them. Further management can be planned after investigation. Hope this helps.
