Suggest Treatment For Severe Abdominal Pain And Colitis
Good morning, I m suffering constant abdominal pain. When I have looked online, it seems to be my colon. I have been diagnosed with colitis in the past and all the symptoms are pointing this way. It s a Sunday and there is no doctors surgery open so was wondering is there anything I could use over the counter until I see a doctor on Monday. Thank you
You must undergo routine blood investigations and H.pylori, liver function tests, urinalysis and stool for blood, abdominal ultrasound and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy to detect the underlying cause.
Treatment is mainly depend on the cause but you may take symptommatic treatment meanwhile.
Antacids like h2 blockers (ranitidine) or proton pump inhibitors (pantoprazole or rabeprazole) will help to reduce excess acid production in stomach.
You can also take digene gel or liquid or ulcero-protective agents like sucralfate or bismuth subsallicylate to reduce the burning sensation or pain.
Thanks and regards,
