Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My ankle was sprained very badly for the past 2 weeks. I am now walking on it normal with a little bit of swelling still visible. I am experiencing some peeling of the skin around the ankle, why? Do I have an infection of some sort? Is it common with most sprains?
I have studied your case and peeling of skin is not a common feature after ankle sprain. I think you must have applied some ointment over your ankle and these ointment can cause such peeling of skin. It is not a infection. If there is too much itching along with peeling that you can sow it to a skin specialist. I would also suggest you to apply hot water fomentation and also apply compression bandage. Do not walk or jump too much.If your pain increases than you can get x ray of the ankle joint. I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup question.
