Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I fell going down some icy stairs 5 days ago. While I did not put my arms out to brace my fall, I know that my wrist did hit the stairs as there was a tiny abrasion. Except for bruising on my right hip and left elbow and the above mentioned abrasion on my right wrist, all seemed fine. Went horseback riding 3 days after the fall. Woke up the following morning with a stiff and sore right wrist. 2 days later the stiffness and the pain in the wrist seems to be increasing. Did the riding exacerbate an already injured wrist? Please advise.

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist, Niraj Modi's Response
Yes looks like you have over damaged the wrist. I suggest to take x ray and check the should not be any internal damage or hair line fracture. If yes then you need to cast it for some time and later some more physio therapy exercise will help you to recover. If there is no damage in x ray in side then visit a physical therapist and do take trashing therapy and heat therapy as well they will also guide you further on do and don't. Just follow this and you will be fine. If you need any further help then reach me to nirajmodish@gmail.com. Hope this was helpful for you. Take care.
