I have just recovered from a six weeks of the flu, I am 82 yrs old, and yesterday I started have severe pain in my mid back, could this be pleurisy?? If so what shooulod I do for it ?? I am sleeping setting up as it is less painful. Thank you. Colleem
Hi , welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service. I have read your question and here is my advice. This does not look like pleurisity , as that would have caused pain in the chest on either side and pain would have increased with respiration. This most looks like muscular pain. Whatever treatment would be the same. I would advise you take some pain killer ,like tylenol as needed, you can also apply some hot application and some massage over the area .Hopes this work. please contact your doc if pain gets worse or persists.
Hopes i have answered your question .I would be happy to answer any further question if you have.
kind Regards n Dr Raha
