Suggest Treatment For Severe Chest Pain And Raised Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate

A blood test has revealed raised esr. What treatment should I have? I was assaulted in the chest in school by a pupil 16 months ago and prescribed ibuprofen for inflammation. It still pains periodically but I was told that this was normal for bruised soft tissue.

Possibility of post traumatic costochondritis is more in your case.
Costochondritis is in of rib cartilage. It is common after injury. ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) is raised in inflammatory conditions.
So this also favours costochondritis.
For better symptomatic relief follow these steps.
1. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise.
2. Avoid bad postures in sleep. Avoid movements causing pain.
3. Start painkiller and anti inflammatory drugs.
4. Apply warm water pad on affected site.
5. Wear chest belt to prevent mobilisation of painful areas.
Don't worry, you will be alright in 1-2 weeks.
