Suggest Treatment For Severe Depression

Hi, my daughter just sent a very distribing text, about being on highs and lows lows..
My mother was diagnosed with aggravated- depression in the late 70's
So perhaps the 80's... She was an alcoholic as well.. As I was growing up she attempted suicide several times... During 1979 at the age of 34 she nearly succeeded. I was intuitive some how and called for help for her. The police found her and paramedics saved her life, although she did indeed pass over.
Her experience of her near death experience " is haunting " . She promised my grandmother, her mother that she would never ever attempt suicude again. My daughter knows of this, as I have talked to her about it.
The problem my fighter denies a Higher Power-
Very concerned Mommy!!
Ps my daughter is 29 years old and has twin daughters and says she will do anything to harm herself although is thinks of it regularly -
Please help

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello! I think from what you have described it looks like your daughter is suffering from depression. These behavioral changes that she is going through could be post partum depression if she has delivered her twin daughters within the last 6 months period. Having self harming thoughts and suicidal ideas is an emergency and she requires in hospital treatment in a psychiatric setup with pharmacotherapy as well as psychotherapy at the earliest.
