I had a superficial parotidectomy on 04\21\14. I have pain in my ear and also the drain area The pain is too much. The benign tumour was on my auricular nerve and close to my facial. No facial paralysis. The resident Doc who came to remove the drain was routing it out. My ent surgeon said i wll be ok in 1 year. My ear is so hard. No feeling at back of my ears.

Sometimes when upper respiratory track infection when left untreated or when occur again and again spread to ear through eustachaian tube and causing pain . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test and allergy test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like amoxicillin at least for 10 days along with decongestant and anti inflammatory. You should take steam and blow cheeks with nose closed. For now do warm saline gargles , take steam twice a day and apply warm dry compresses to external ear .
