Hi I've been experiencing the smell of burnt toast for a couple of weeks now, and at no particular time of the day even though the toaster has never been on . I have had headaches mainly the back of my head roughly same time scale, could this be related ? Would really appreciate some advice thanks .
It could be related. This depends on a couple of things. If this is a smell that comes and goes along with a headache then that can be a rare type of aura. An aura is a focal neurological symptom that typically precedes a migraine (or even a cluster headache). The most common is a visual aura, where people lose half or all of their vision or have strange visual phenomena that lasts on average 20 minutes but for some can last longer.
If this is something new for you or if it is constant, there could be other reasons why you get this symptom of a strange smell and it's important you talk to your doctor about having an MRI of the brain with contrast as soon as you can before treating this as if it's migraine.
