Suggest Treatment For Severe Hip Pain While Coughing

March 7 2018 I had a total right hip replacement. Post op has been going well. However I have 2 concerns. About 11:15pm last night (Thursday) I had a deep coughing spell. While coughing, my operated hip started hurting like crazy and my hip muscles started to spasm. After taking two, HCL 5mg tabs Oxycodones the pain eased. How could a deep cough affect my new replaced hip? 2nd concern, I am still urinating every hour to two hours at night. Thus depriving me of good sleep. I am wearing antiembolisum stockings 24/7. When will my frequent bathroom visits go back to normal. I did check and I do not have a UTI.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be due to simple musculoskeletal causes. However we have to rule out neuropathic causes like sciatica. Consult a neurologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
