Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I went to the doctor over the summer because my hip kept catching, and hip pain was waking me at night. I received steroids for it and eventually physical therapy, which helped. I still have pain in the groin area and down the front of my thigh when leaning forward in a standing position or sitting down, but I m not in constant pain. Physical therapy is over, and I m wondering whether to just self treat at home and hope it gets better, or go back to the doctor, who has only looked at my back. The physical therapist is the one who helped my hip.
Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist, Niraj Modi's Response
As per your explanation I suggest you might have hip arthritis or it may be related to your back pain which is radiating. Here I suggest to wait for some more time with hot and cold pack use. As well doing physiotherapy little more. And I am sure the therapist also must have given you some exercise to strengthen the muscles. So any strengthening exercise when we start it takes 2 to 3 weeks to show the result so that I have suggested to manage at home. And do not do any activity which pains more. At the same time in case if pain becomes more then do visit orthopedic take x ray of hip and get it checked and treated accordingly. Take care
