Suggest Treatment For Severe Itching At The Nipples Post A Medical Abortion

I had a medical abortion recently, I sort of developed severe pains and admitted to the hospital. There the doctors said it was an incomplete abortion and used surgical means to take out the remaining tissues. But for the past week, my nipples have become very itchy, what is wrong with me? And how do I treat it?

Hello,

You are suffering from severe itching at the nipples, post abortion. Though you have aborted, the breast may secrete colostrum. You should keep the breasts clean with a moist cotton cloth. Be gentle with yourself. Keeping the skin hydrated with moisturizers. Avoiding things that cause or worsen the reaction. Take antihistamines orally and also apply a thin layer of Hydrocortisone cream to reduce itching.

You may have to take a course of antifungal orally and apply Clotrimazole if fungal infection is detected. Get clinically examined by your gynecologist. Avoid frequent hot showers, using harsh soaps or body washes. Keep your skin with moisturizers and body lotion. Wear soft cotton clothes, do not wear bra rather wear slips for letting the rash heal. Apply anti-chafing balm or petroleum jelly, before activity.
