Suggest Treatment For Severe Itching On Arm

I have had a severe itch on my left arm, I mentioned it to my doctor, he did not even look at my arm. The itch is so severe, it wakes me from a sound sleep at night. I tried cortisone cream and Tri calm, it doesn t help much, any ideas what this could be ?
