Suggest Treatment For Severe Itchy Rash On The Feet
Every spring for the past 3 years, right after I wear sandals for the first time, I experience an itchy rash on the tops of my feet. My doctor suggested that it looked like athletes foot, even though it s in a strange place . I do not get it between my toes or the bottoms of my feet. After the first few weeks of summer weather, it seems to go away and doesn t come back until the next spring when I wear sandals for the first time. Wondering what I might be able to do for the intense itch.
Hi, Thanks for contacting HCM. With a history of an intense itch on the top of the feet, that would certainly correlate with "athlete's foot" symptoms. In this case, a topical antifungal cream would be the best to put on the area, and also to stop the itching. Another thing to look at is the sandals themselves. Changing them at least every summer would be recommended, and even spraying them with a little bit of Lysol to disinfect the straps. Less likely, a contact allergy could be causing the problem. It would be a good idea to start with the topical antifungal first and monitor. I hope this helped answer your question, if you have any further questions, I am here to help. Thank you.
