Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter is a cheerleader and is suffering from extreme knee pain. We have seen a chiropractor, and two Orthopedic doctors and each have a different opinion. We have also seen a sports injury doctor and he has agreed with one Orthopedic doctor who never gave instruction on what to do besides strengthen the quads. The two that have agreed, concur that it is her fatty pad. Today s Orthopedic surgeon said it was patellofemoral pain syndrome (runner s knee). We are confused parents and don t know what steps to take next. We just know that our daughter is in extreme pain and we hate to see her suffering.
Meniscus injury can be managed by arthroscopic repair, and same day you can go home. As per your symptoms you need to do physiotherapy and knee exercises to improve range of motion . If pain persist then you may need to do MRI to see for any functional defect.
small meniscus tear can be managed conservatively with physiotherapy with USG and TENS. Arthroscopic evaluation may help her.

Wishing you good health.
