I have been getting a recurring rash in different ares near my groin that leaves scars when it clears up. It starts with an itchy area and then maybe a day later a painful rash occurs. It is hot pink in color. It started with the inside of my nose feeling like it was one ain t cold sore in 2008. In the spring of 2009, a painful rash erupted down my inner thighs. It has been coming and going since then all in my groin area. My nice has the same symptoms. She had the painful cold sore in her nose befor me. And two years ago at the beach she showed me a similar rash on her inner thighs. I have been to the dr and he said it deffinately wasn t herpes. Could this be shingles? Also I was living with my brother when my niece had the same symptoms before me.
Your nasal rash could be different from that of the rashes on your thigh. Nasal rash is possibly due to HSV1 infection. Shingles is a self limiting disease and the recurrence is unusual. Your thigh rashes could possibly be due to fungal infection of skin (Jock itch or ring worm infection). Correct diagnosis and appropriate anti-fungal antibiotics (topical and systemic) for adequate duration will heal your rash completely. Consult a Dermatologist and get well soon. Dr S.Murugan
