Suggest Treatment For Severe Sinus Drainage

My 52 year oldson has MS and is on Tysarbi infusion treatments. They take blood tests periodically and test for JCV. He recently received info that it was positive. Also, PML is one of the things that could occur from taking Tysarbi. What are the symptoms for JCV and PML? He has episodes of terrible drainage from his head and drain down his throat and makes him gag and spits up lots of phlegm. It seem to occur without any warning. I m beginning to worry that something may be developing from his treatments that he has been on for 7 years. thanks for any info you can give me.

JCV is viral infection which increases the chances of PML when MS patients are on Tysabri infusion treatment. JCV infected patients may not have any complaint and only blood test can reveal the infection. PML is a life threatening complication of Tysabri. It seems your son has tolerated well as he has been on Tysabri for 7 years. But now he has become JCV positive and risks of PML is more. I hope he is not taking any other medicine which can affect his immunity because in that case risk of PML is more. PML patients can have vomiting and jaundice but sinus drainage is not as such its feature. But better you report to the treating physician as he must be aware about the details of your son and his treatment.
