Suggest Treatment For Severe Sore Throat

I have had a severe sore throat which after having a throat culture showed signs of thrush. I was prescribed Acyclovir 800mg and Clindamycin which I have been taking. I am experiencing heartburn and my throat does continue to become sore but only in the evening. I am almost finished with these pills but am concerned that I am still not feeling up to par. Should I return to the Dr. once again for additional meds or is it possible it is just a virus thsat needs to work it s way out of my system. I have NO fever
