Suggest Treatment For Severe Sunburn

Hi doctor. My nephew, 8, got an extremely bad sunburn this weekend. We were applying sunscreen but he already has super sensitive skin. He is starting to blister and is in alot of pain. What is the best way to prevent further blistering and help him with the pain? Thanks for any feedback.

My Dear

Welcome to Healthcaremagic!

I have noted the contents of your post and my observations based on successful treatment for similar patients are

1 He needs to be protected from further sun exposure

2 A cream containing Fluticasone and mupirocin would work best in sucha case.

3 Additional use of oral anti allergic like Cetirizine would help control itching

4 Any OTC analgesic like ibuprofen will help pain in such a condition.

5 Once he is alright, please do apply sunscreen regularly and make sure that sunscreen is of adequate SPF and is applied in the recommended manner since children themselves cannot be expected to follow precautions like adults.

I am sure this advice helps him and your anxiety is resolved.
