As per your query you have severe throat pain and tonsillitis which is probably due to untreated throat infection leading to Pharyngitis and Tonsillitis. I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist next time when you have the symptoms and he can do a clinical examination and can also advise you investigations like throat swab culture to check for bacterial as well as viral culture . Doctor may recommend tonsillectomy . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like Augmentin OR Azithromycin to resolve the infection , anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen can be taken to relive pain . Do warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and using a humidifier. - You can also suck throat lozenges to soothe the throat. - Gargle with antiseptic solution like few drops of betadine in water. - Chew Vitamin C pellets to boost up the immunity. - Avoid spicy and chilled foods.
