Suggest Treatment For Shaky Legs And Hands In An Alcoholic
Hi My dad lives alone and has been alcoholic. Since few months he has got shaky legs and hands and now he also feels difficult to talk. His voice talks slowly like an old man. I have consulted a doctor and they started with b complex injections and multi vitamin. Is there anything else that i need to do to get him hood health. He has also stopped alcohol consumption. But i want to see him walking effectively without support.
Shakiness in hands, slurred voice or difficulty to talk, difficulty in walking are seen in alcoholic due to deficiency of vitamins and nutrients. Thiamine deficiency is most commonly implicated in such cases. This is the probably the reason he has been advised to take multivitamin injections. He has also stopped taking alcohol and his tremors could be occurring due to alcohol withdrawal. In such case I would advise you to consult a psychiatrist for proper treatment. Low dose benzodiazepines like Clonazepam, Lorazepam etc can be given to him for short term to reduce tremors. Medicines like Baclofen, Pregabalin etc will help to maintain the remission.
Visit a psychiatrist for prescription.
Thanks, hope this helps you
