Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had some sharp chest pains this morning for about 5 minutes. I had recently been to the doctor who ordered a stress test after something showed up in ekg. He had received a report from a cardiologist but the cardiologist did not tell him what to do about the results. He set me up for therapy and I have gone to one session and am scheduled for one next week. I am not sure that therapy is what I need and am trying to decided if I should go into urgent care since it is a Sunday. What would you advice be?
Hi welcome to HCM. Chest pain in your case has to be promptly evaluated through a baseline 2 dimensional echo and coronary angiography to document ischemic heart disease. In case if coronary artery stenosis is documented ,in situ stent placement and angioplasty can be done. Its very essential to maintain the blood pressure under 130/80 mm of hg.Antiplatelets are the mainstay of therapy to prevent further cardiovascular events.Consult your cardiologist at the earliest. Thank you.
