Suggest Treatment For Sharp Stabbing Pain In The Chest

My husband is experiencing a sharp pinching pain in the centre of his chest. He feels it could be gas but is not sure. I am concerned and feel he should go to the hospital. he is 53 years old. It is approximately the 3rd rib down from the collar bone. There is no sweating, dizziness, other pains, or symptoms of any kind.

Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your concern.
Possibility of GERD(Gastro esophageal reflux disease) is more for his pain.
But better to rule out cardiac cause first.
So get done ecg and 2d echo. If both are normal then GERD is the likely cause.
It causes central chest burning type of pain with gaseous feeling of stomach.
Ask him to follow these steps for better symptomatic relief.
1. Avoid stress and tension. Avoid hot and spicy food. Avoid large meals, instead take frequent small meals.
2. Start Proton pump inhibitors.
3. Go for walk after meals.
4. Keep 2-3 pillows under head in bed to prevent reflux.
5. Ask him to avoid smoking and alcohol if he haven these habits.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wishing him good health.
Thanks.
