Suggest Treatment For Sharp, Stabbing Pains In Right Temple

I have shooting, sharp, stabbing pains in the right temple area. They occur without notice and without any special activity. They can even wake me from my sleep. They go away almost as quickly as they come. The internet seems to call them ice-pick headaches...can they be prevented or treated?

Hello,

Such sudden and sharp headaches need to be investigated. Please get a CT scan of the brain done as early as possible as the reason of the headache needs to be looked into.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Haleema Yezdani, General & Family Physician
