Suggest Treatment For Skin Burn After Spilling Hot Water
Hello about three hours ago I spilled hot water on myself. My manager applied some type of burn gel to the area (which was my hand), and it was quite red for a while. The redness has become unapparent now, and there are no signs of blisters forming (yet). How should I go about dealing with this? My hand feels hot and there is a burning sensation along with it.
Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic
A burn injury from spilled hot water is known as a "Scald". Since the burnt area still has a burning sensation I would suggest you to either immerse your hand in cold water Or keep you hand under running cold water, till the burning sensation subsides. Thereafter, you may just use a topical antibacterial e.g either silver sulphadiazine ointment Or Mupirocin ointment, twice daily over that area for a week. Blister, if it develops may be punctured with either a sterile needle Or it may left as it is as a protective covering against secondary bacterial infection.
