Suggest Treatment For Skin Cut On Finger

I sliced off some of the skin off the tip of my first finger Monday night while using a mandolin. It bled a lot but it did stop. Afterwards I washed the cut, poured peroxide on it then put antibacterial cream and a band aid on it. What should I do to make sure it doesn t get infected? I did not see a doctor.

Thanks for contacting health care magic.

The treatment of the wound will depend on the depth of the wound. If the wound if superficial and dry, keep on applying the antiseptic cream. If the wound if deep, with a tissue loss then you need antibiotics and antiinflammatory drugs along with daily dressings.

The first signs of infection will be pain, increased swelling and oozing. Kerp a watch for them.

Wirh regards.
