My son suffered fro a skininfection when I was away on vacation. I am a gfamily Dr in UK. He had three crops of lesions one on l pinnacle ear lobe and one midline chin and the last midline overlying his larynx. They looked to all intents and purposes like crops of vesicles similar to herpes type infection. He tells me there were waxy scabs very difficult to remove but when they did pull off they left no bleeding just small ulcer bases. It does not seem to have responded to topical antibiotics or flucloxacillin. Any ideas?
Your son seems to have bacterial infection of skin called impetigo bullosa. There may be small bulla or vesicles filled with pus . The lesions after rupture become crusted. And proper treatment might heal the lesions without leaving scar. There may be little discoloration. The disease is infection of hair follicles caused by staphylococci. Poor immunity and poor hygiene might be responsible. You consult dermatologist for firm diagnosis and treatment.
Antibiotic cream like fusidic acid may be applied on the lesions. Also apply in the nostril at night to reduce the bacterial load in nose, which may be to root of the infection. Oral antibiotic like cefixime 100 mg twice a day may be given for few days along with antiinflammatory drugs. Improve immunity with nutritious food and improve hygiene with dettol bath. He might get good result. Relapses may be prevented. I hope you got my answer.
Thanks.
