Suggest Treatment For Skin Pigmentation Post Lupus

Will marks on a body from cutaneous lupus ever go away?... I was diagnosed with lupus 2 yrs ago and my body still has pigmention.. Is there any treatment available that removes these marks so I don t have to continue wearing long pants &long sleeved shirts all summer long?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Lupus can heal with dyspigmentation (both depigmentation as well as post inflammatory hyperpigmentation). Though the changes from lupus might not reverse completely but I suggest you to use a moderately potent topical steroid cream e.g either mometasone furoate 0.1% or fluticasone propionate 0.05% cream for dyspigmentation. These are prescription drugs and I advice you to talk to your general practitioner for a prescription of the same.
