My ten year old grandaughter has what looks like a skin tag that just showed up on her chin. It filled with blood and she rubbed it and broke it open a couple of days ago. A fair amount of blood came out of it. Her MD thought it might be a granuloma, and put something on it ( silver nitrate? ) to dry it up. It hasnt done anything to it. The MD is now sending her to a dermatologist. Can you give me any peace of mind that this thing will be ok?
Your grand daughter may be having a lesion known as pyogenic granuloma most probably. It is also known as granuloma telangiectaticum. It is a small growth containing proliferating capillaries, there may be bleeding on touch, so please avoid to touch or squeez. Secondary infection might occur. You consult dermatologist immediately.
After making diagnosis of pyogenic granuloma, he would do electrocautery of the lesion. It is a minor surgical procedure done under local anaesthesia in OPD. So, kindly consult dermatologist urgently.
I hope you got my answer.
Thanks.
