Suggest Treatment For Skipped Heart Beat, Cold And Cough

I have a cough that is producing some phlegm and has been going on for about 3 days. I m just getting over a cold so thinking it s part of that. In addition, I m experiencing what I believe are called PVCs....my heart seems to skip a beat and it feels like it jumps into my throat a bit. Is this something I need to worry about?

Hello and thanks for writing.

I can understand your concern and would try to help you in the best possible way.Sometimes due to a stress or illness the heart may skip a beat or two. It is most often inconsequential.

However if it is causing distress to you or symptoms like palpitations, dizziness, chest discomfort then it is better to get it checked up. A simple ECG goes a long way to detect them. If not detected by ECG then a 24 hour ECG recording with Holter may be required to catch these abnormal beats.

I advice you not to think about is much and avoid any stress. Also consult a doctor to get yourself checked.
