Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello. Thank you for asking on HCM. I hope I can help you.

Weakness of cardiac origin can be elicited by low blood pressure or slowed heartbeat/conduction disturbances. If you can, please tell me, has she had any episodes of fainting with or without loss of conciousness? Does she take drugs that lower blood pressure or slow the heart rate? My opinion is that she should do an EKG and be put on a 24-hour Holter rhythm monitor. Also, an echocardiogram should performed, to assess heart muscle and valve functioning. After these tests are done, we can judge if this problem is of cardiac origin and, if it is, proper measures of treatment must be undertaken.

I hope I answered your question. Feel free to contact me again. Take care.
