Suggest Treatment For Small Chalazion Under Left Eyelid.

Hi! I had a small chalazion under my left eyelid for about a month. I recently got chalazion surgery in mid june. I've noticed that my eyelid looks exactly the same as it did before chalazion surgery. On random days it would get a little bit bigger and i treat it with warm compression and it get smaller. However, it still hasn't completely gone away and its been almost two months since chalazion surgery. It is noticeable that my left eye does not look like my right eye which is completely in great condition. Is this lump under my eyelid normal? How can i make it go away? I am on vacation now but i am going to visit my opthamologist soon.

Hello,

Sometimes a chalazion can re-form and cause a swelling of the eyelid again. If it is small then warm compresses for 10 minutes , thrice a day should suffice. If it remains persistent even after 4-6 weeks of this, then intralesional triamcinolone can be tried. For larger chalazia, surgery is the only option. I guess it is appropriate to continue with the warm compresses for some more time and expect a natural regression.
