I am 61yrs old and about three years ago I started getting these small pimple type flat warts on my face. They are not obvious but I can see them when I look closely in the mirror. I have tried to keep my face clean and have used face wash with all kinds of medications, it did not work. I have a rotating face brush that I have used for six months, that did not help. Please help.
Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic.
Warts are an infection caused by HPV. They may spread to the surrounding healthy skin if left untreated; the spread being particularly facilitated by shaving as shaving facilitates innoculation of the virus into the skin thorough the minor trauma/scratches that are common with shaving thus providing a portal of entry. Medicated face washes or rotating face brush is unlikely to get rid of them.
The best way to manage facial flat warts is by using a form of therapy that ablates the wart bearing tissue. The options available are CO 2 Laser vaporization; Radiofrequency cautery; Chemical cauterization with Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) Or with 88% Phenol. These procedures are usually performed by a dermatologist in his office.
I would suggest that you seek an appointment with a dermatologist and try to get rid of them as soon as possible. The more you wait more are the chances that they would keep on increasing in number.
Regards
