General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
This is ( solitary rectal ulcer ) a rare condition that takes the form of an ulcer on the anterior wall of the rectum.
It is thought to be traumatic in origin.
Usually this is a benign in condition , yet very difficult to treat.
The symptoms of the bleeding and discharge can sometimes be ameliorated by TOPICAL HYDROCORTISONE applications or by DIATHERMY destruction of the ulcer by an expert surgeon, but drawback is recurrence .
So consult a surgeon and get his opinion.
Good luck for your mother.
