Hi, i am 25 years old, i weigh 11 stone and im healthy, no medical history. For about a year and a half now i have had such a sore bum, it gets itchy and hurts alot especially when i shower it stings like hell. ive never seen about this, do you know what i may have?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Sore buttocks for one and half years is a long time to suffer and you are young of 25 hence diabetes may not be a problem. Such problem is usually due to dermatitis of some sort and hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: First of all try to consult a Dermatologist to get a clinical evaluation, examination and necessary investigations. Get blood CBC, sugar and thyroid checked. Urine and stool tests. Blood for IgE and ANA. Apply liquid povidone iodine locally so that secondary infection is controlled. Use cotton underwear and to be washed in boiled water to make them sterile. Antibiotic cover if there is any evidence of infection. Anti-scabies if there is scabies.
